The Community Foundation of Shelby County Scholarship

Giving limited to Shelby County, OH, and surrounding areas.

Dr. Edward and Anne Link Fund Scholarship

Shelby County residents maintaining a college gpa of not less than 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale and are pursuing a major in Fine Arts toward an Associate’s, a Bachelor’s, or a Master’s degree at an accredited college or university. Applicants must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education. No recipient may be awarded this scholarship more than once. • Selection based upon: Academic ability, demonstrated community and school service, and recommendations.

Catherine Moloney Nursing Scholarship

A Shelby County resident pursuing a Registered Nursing degree. Eligible persons may apply during any year of their education; however licensed RN’s are not eligible for continuing education. • Selection based upon: Financial need; academic ability; demonstrated “empathy which is necessary, the compassion which is required, and the requisite patience in order to enjoy and devote oneself to a long and fruitful nursing career.”

June Whited Christian Science Scholarship

Students who reside in the following Ohio counties: Allen, Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery or Shelby and are pursuing a four-year degree at Principia College, Elsah, Illinois in the coming academic year. • Selection based upon: Academic ability, financial need, demonstrated community and school service, and demonstrated moral standards within the doctrine of The First Church of Christ, Scientist.• Eligible applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. • Please attach a brief personal statement (not more than 400 words) demonstrating how you live your life by the doctrine of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, MA. • Award: Various amounts totaling $5,000.

Shoemaker Memorial Scholarships

Scholarships administered by The Community Foundation of Shelby County. Scholarship recipients will be selected for a $1,000 Floyd and Marie Shoemaker Scholarship and a $500 James Shoemaker Scholarship. These scholarships are renewable for one additional year. Recipients will be selected based upon demonstrated school and community service, a grade point average between 2.5 and 3.5, and recommendations. All scholarships are awarded without regard to gender, race, creed, color, ethnic origin, physical disability or religious affiliation or non-affiliation. William B and Bonnie Z Swonger Nursing Scholarship

A Shelby County (Ohio) resident who is a graduate of (or is about to graduate from) any high school within Shelby County and is pursuing a Registered Nursing degree. Eligible persons may apply during any year of their education, however licensed RN’s are not eligible for continuing education. Selection based upon: Financial need and academic ability. Award for 2015: Three $1,000 scholarships available.

Law Student Assistance Fund

Students entering their third year of law school. Graduate of a high school in Shelby County or an abutting county and a permanent resident of Shelby County or an abutting county. Eligible Ohio counties: Auglaize, Darke, Champaign, Logan, Mercer, Miami and Shelby. Selection based upon: Financial need, above-average law school scholarship, and demonstrated leadership in undergraduate and law school activities and in community, school and church. Preferential consideration given to applicants who are married and have children and those who indicate a desire for the general practice of law in a rural or county-seat setting. Award for 2015: One $3,000 scholarship.

Dr Edward and Anne Link Fund

Shelby County residents maintaining a college gpa of not less than 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale and are pursuing a major in visual arts, performing arts, or creative writing toward a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree. Applicants must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education. No recipient may be awarded this scholarship more than once. Selection based upon: Academic ability, demonstrated community and school service, and recommendations. Award for 2015: One $2,500 scholarship.

Medical & Health Professions Scholarship

Graduates of high schools within Shelby County or residents of any public school district within Shelby County pursuing a certificate or an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in medical and health professions. Eligible persons may apply during any year of their education. Selection based upon (in order of priority): Financial need; academic ability; demonstrated community and school service, and recommendations. Must have a cumulative gpa of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Individuals who have not been enrolled in high school or a post-secondary program within the last two years need not comply with this requirement. Awards for 2015: Two $1,200 scholarships.
