Lincoln Electric Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Pursuing fifteen week advanced welding course. Scholarship recipient must attend welding courses at Lincoln Electric’s Cleveland, Ohio, plant. Recipient pays for temporary housing – housing list provided upon request. Protective gear may be purchased at the school for special student prices. The award covers the full tuition cost for Lincoln Electric’s ?Comprehensive Welding Program,? designed to instruct welders in arc welding safety and all the common welding processes, including SMAW (stick), GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG) and FCAW (flux-cored). Course also covers pipe welding, oxy-fuel and plasma arc cutting and alloy and hardfacing welding. Students spend about 20% of their time in the classroom and 80% in the booth, with more than 400 hours of total hands-on instruction.AWARD: One advanced 15-week course scholarship for the advanced welders valued at $4,300 in the form of tuition reduction. Non-renewable.

Garrett Trust Fund

Deadline: Ongoing. Students may make application throughout the year, as funds are available. Criteria: * Seminarians enrolled full-time in a Master of Divinity program in an accredited seminary * Membership in a UCC congregation for at least one year prior to receiving a scholarship * In-care of an Association or Conference at time of application * At least a B average maintained * Agrees to serve in the UCC or a partner church on completion of seminary * Demonstrates leadership ability through participation in local church, Association, Conference, or academic environment * Must sign a faith statement as part of application process Scholarship awards range from $300 to $1,000 and are based on financial need. The Garrett Trust Fund was established in 1946 to provide scholarship assistance for persons pursuing a seminary education. The trust is held by Local Church Ministries and scholarships are administered through the Parish Life and Leadership Ministry Team. Make a Difference! Seminarian Scholarships

Criteria: * Graduate-level UCC students The amount of the award is typically between $1,500 and $2,500 per recipient. The presidents of the seven seminaries of the United Church of Christ are invited annually to submit a nominee for a Make a Difference! Seminarian Scholarship. The awards are transferred to the seminaries and applied toward tuition. Recipients must meet the general requirements. Make a Difference! Doctoral Studies Award

Criteria: * Graduate-level UCC students Awards of approximately $2,500 are made each year to members of the United Church of Christ who are engaged in a doctoral studies program that would prepare recipients to be considered for a teaching position at a seminary of the United Church of Christ. Persons enrolled in a doctoral studies program may request a set of application materials. Make a Difference! Overseas/Global Partner Church Awards

Criteria: * Graduate-level UCC students Awards range from $1,000 to $2,000. A seminary scholarship for one student of an overseas/global partner church and for one international student studying at a UCC seminary are awarded each year. Continuing education funds for a clergyperson of an overseas/partner church are also awarded annually. These scholarships are given upon nomination by the Area Offices of our common Global Ministries/Wider Church Ministries. The Cannon Endowment Scholarship

The Cannon Endowment Scholarship was established in 1992 through a gift from Dr. Clinton Cannon. An army retiree and UCC lay member of the Washington-North Idaho Conference, Dr. Cannon appreciated the ministry of chaplains during his career and wanted to ensure the future availability of chaplains to serve military personnel and their families. The Cannon Endowment provides scholarship assistance to seminarians planning to become military chaplains. Applicants must meet the general requirements or the equivalent if they are from other faith communities. Seminarians who are of the following faith communities may apply: United Church of Christ, Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Presbyterian U.S.A., United Methodist, and Church of the Brethren. Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and typically will be in the $2,500 range. Third World Theological Fellowships

Third World Theological Fellowships are available to members of the United Church of Christ and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) who have completed two years of M.Div. study. Applicants must have local church and seminary recommendations and must be willing to interpret the experience in the seminary and in area churches. The award provides partial support for tuition, room and board, and roundtrip air travel. Black Professionals Association Charitable Foundation

BPACF scholarship recipients were, and still are, selected by Northeastern Ohio colleges and universities. Eligible students must be African American, demonstrate financial need, be preferably from the Cleveland and surrounding areas, and maintain at least a 2.8 grade point average. Limited to residents of Cleveland, Ohio and surrounding areas.

Cleveland Alumnae Panhellenic Endowment Fund, Inc. - Scholarship

Scholarship awards to residents of the metropolitan Cleveland, OH, area, who are enrolled as full-time students at an Ohio college or university, and who are initiated members of the National Panhellenic Conference fraternity, graduates, sophomores, juniors or seniors. Astrup Company Scholarship

Eligibility: To be eligible, you must: * Be a child or grandchild (whether natural, adopted, or stepchild) of a regular employee of The Astrup Company, and any parent, subsidiary, division, or successor or survivor entity, who is employed full- or part-time, with a minimum tenure of two years * Be accepted as a full-time (12 or more credit hours) or part-time (minimum six credit hours) undergraduate (freshman through senior) or post-baccalaureate candidate at an accredited college or university * Have, at a minimum, a 2.0 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 grade scale Selection process: An independent selection committee will base its scholarship decisions on the completed application packet and on evidence of commitment to academic performance, ability and aptitude, standardized test scores (SAT and ACT), and financial need. The committee may request an interview. (Applicants residing outside of Ohio may be asked for a supplemental essay to offset this request.) The annual award amount will be based on the performance of the fund. Award process: The annual award amount will be based on the performance of the fund. Generally, awards range from $750 to $1,500. The number of awards and final award amounts will be based upon the number of finalists selected and their enrollment status. All awards will be made payable to the recipient-selected educational institution in two equal payments in August and January. Scholarships are renewable for an additional year, provided that a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better is achieved. Renewal requires submission of a renewal application packet.

Judge Lillian W. Burke Scholarship

Purpose: To provide scholarship support for students attending the Cleveland State University John Marshall College of Law. Must demonstrate financial need and potential to succeed. Roy W. and Wilma Cade Scholarship

Eligibility: To be eligible, you must: * Be a resident of Greater Cleveland * Be pursuing post-secondary education and: o Be accepted at or enrolled in a college or university o Have, at a minimum, a 2.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 grade scale o Be in good standing with no criminal record o Show financial need o Be pursuing educational studies in the Christian ministry Preference shall be given to inner-city applicants and members of Second Ebenezer Baptist Church and other church organizations. Selection process: The selection committee will base its scholarship decisions on the completed application, evidence of a commitment to pursue educational studies in the Christian ministry, financial need, academic commitment, and volunteer activities. Award process: The annual award amount will be based on the performance of the fund and number of applicants selected. The general award amount is $1,000. Awards must be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for courses.

Wilma Chapman Scholarship Fund

Eligibility: To be eligible for a Wilma A. Chapman Fund scholarship, you must: * Be a resident of the city of Cleveland * Be enrolled or accepted in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited, Pell-eligible educational institution for full-time (12 credit hours) or part-time (minimum six credit hours) status per term * Have a mental illness in one of the following categories: schizophrenia, mood disorders, or anxiety disorders * Have your treating physicians endorsement * Have household income of less than $100,000 * Be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (unexpired) Selection process: A selection committee composed of a broad mix of individuals from Greater Cleveland will select scholarship award recipients based on the completed application and the following criteria: a) evidence of commitment, b) ability to benefit and c) compatibility of course work to career path. A personal interview also may be required. Please note that finalists will be required to verify a household income of less than $100,000. Award process: The annual award amount will be based on the performance of the fund and number of applicants selected. Generally, one new award of $750 is made annually. Awards must be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses. Additional support may be available to recipients for one additional year. To be eligible for renewal, a recipient must meet the initial eligibility requirements, demonstrate stability in medical regimen and capability to continue, and achieve a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 grade scale. Grants are paid to the school for the benefit of the selected student(s). Limited to residents of the greater Cleveland, OH, area.

The Cleveland Foundation Scholarship Selection and Advisory Committee Scholarship

Eligibility: To be eligible for a foundation scholarship, you must: * Be enrolled or accepted in an undergraduate program at an accredited, Pell-eligible educational institution * Be a resident of Cuyahoga County (Lake and Geauga counties will be incorporated into the program as investment performance of the supporting funds grows) * Be enrolled either full-time (12 credit hours) or half-time (six credit hours) per term * Have a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 grade scale * Demonstrate financial need * Be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (unexpired) Selection process: A selection committee composed of a broad mix of individuals from Greater Cleveland will select scholarship recipients based on the completed applications. Additional criteria considered in awarding the scholarship grants will include commitment to education, character, potential, and ability to benefit. A personal interview may also be required. Award information: There are two scholarship categories: Category 1 scholarships require applicants to submit a Student Aid Report, which is received after an individual files a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Category 2 scholarships are targeted to students attending junior colleges or vocational training (certificate or license programs) anticipated to be two years or less in duration. Submitting a Student Aid Report for Category 2 scholarships is optional; however, without it, the maximum award is $1,000. Annual scholarship award amounts in both categories are based on the earnings of the fund. Past scholarships have ranged from $1,000 to $3,000. Recipients are notified in writing by the Cleveland Foundation approximately 14 days after the date of the decision meeting, which is typically held in late June. Qualified expenses are tuition and general fees required for enrollment, books, supplies and equipment required for course work. To be eligible for scholarship awards in future years, a recipient must achieve a cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0-point scale) as follows: sophomore, 2.0; junior, 2.5; senior, 2.75. Renewal also requires a current recipient to submit a final grade report that includes the semester or term just completed, and an essay of up to 250 words updating education and career goals. Also, if no Student Aid Report is submitted, evidence of continued financial need (for example, a college/technical school financial aid award letter) is required. Albert W. Geater Memorial Scholarship

Purpose: To provide scholarships for deserving Northeast Ohio students studying accounting at an accredited college, university, or other educational institution. Eligibility: To be eligible, you must: * Be a resident of Northeast Ohio * Be accepted to or enrolled in a college, university, or other institution, and majoring in accounting * Be enrolled full time * Have a minimum 2.75 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale Selection process: A selection committee comprising a broad mix of individuals from Greater Cleveland will choose scholarship recipients based on the completed application. Selection criteria also include commitment to an accounting education, character, and potential to benefit. A personal interview may also be required. Award process: The annual award amount will be based on the foundations spending policy, market performance of the fund, number of finalists selected, and their individual financial need. Awards must be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for the course. Recipients must reapply to be considered for additional support from this fund.

Robert E. and Ada Hagan Public Service Scholarship

Purpose: To provide scholarship support for students attending or accepted at Cleveland State University Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs pursuing a public service career. Must be residents of the state of Ohio, a registered voter, and a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Part-time (two courses) or full-time status. Selection decisions are based on evidence of commitment to public service, community activities, two essays, and financial need. This scholarship is renewable for one additional year. Judge Leo A. and Mrs. Gilberta Jackson Justice and Integrity Scholarship

About the program: The Judge Leo A. and Mrs. Gilberta Jackson Justice and Integrity Scholarship Fund was established Aug. 6, 1999, and named to honor the lives and work of Judge and Mrs. Jackson. The purpose of the fund is to assist collegiate students, primarily juniors and seniors, in attaining their educational goals through scholarship support. Scholarships from this fund will be awarded to students who are interested in pursuing public or community service-oriented careers as a vehicle to secure justice for all, while adhering to a high standard of personal integrity.

Ruth Alice Jacobs Roe Memorial Scholarship

Purpose: To provide scholarship support for a member of St. Clair Memorial Hospitals nursing staff who is interested in pursuing additional nursing education and for a college junior or senior pursuing a nursing career. Preference shall be given to Greater Cleveland residents attending an accredited Ohio college of nursing. Eligibility: To be eligible, you must: * Be a nurse at St. Clair Memorial Hospital in Mt. Lebanon, Pa., pursuing additional nursing education, or be a college junior or senior attending full-time (12 or more credit hours) as an undergraduate degree-seeking candidate at an accredited Ohio four-year college or university, enrolled in a nursing program and anticipating pursuing a career in nursing. (Preference shall be given to Greater Cleveland residents attending an accredited Ohio college of nursing.) * Have a minimum 2.5 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 grade scale * Demonstrate financial need Selection process: A selection committee will base its scholarship decisions on the completed application, evidence of commitment to a career in nursing, academic performance, financial need, and ability to benefit.
