Zagunis Student Leader Scholarship
The Zagunis Student Leader Scholarship was established by the former NACA Great Lakes Region to provide financial assistance to undergraduate or graduate student leaders enrolled in colleges and universities located in the former NACA Great Lakes region. Current undergraduate or graduate students attending a school in the former NACA Great Lakes region are eligible to apply. The scholarship is to be used for educational purposes, such as tuition, fees and books.DEADLINEMaterials must be submitted online by Nov. 1.CRITERIAA committee will select an individual who meets the following criteria: * Is a matriculated undergraduate or graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better at the time of the application and during the semester in which the award is received * Demonstrates significant leadership skills and abilities * Holds a significant leadership position on campus * Makes significant contributions via volunteer involvement, either on or off campus; and Is enrolled in a college or university within the former NACA Great Lakes region (KY, MI, OH, WV and Western PA). * You must be a U.S. Citizen * High school students are not eligible.
Joseph D. Giampapa Scholarship for Student Leaders
For KY, MI [area codes 231, 248, 269, 313, 517, 586, 616, 810 and 989], OH, WV and Western PA [area codes 412, 724 and 814] students only.Scholarships are to be used for educational expenses, including tuition, books, fees or other related expenses. Scholarships are announced in February.DEADLINEMaterials must be submitted online between Sept. 15 and Nov. 1. Only the first 75 qualified applications will be considered.CRITERIAApplicants for the Scholarships for Student Leaders Program must: * Be matriculated undergraduate students in good standing at the time of the application and during the semester in which the award is received * Hold significant leadership positions on their campuses * Have made significant contributions to their campus communities * Have demonstrated leadership skills and ability * You must be a U.S. Citizen * High school students are not eligible.
Fitch Law Firm scholarship
Ohio attorney John Fitch of The Fitch Law Firm LLC is a victims rights advocate. His work includes representation of victims of sexual abuse. Mr. Fitch is also dedicated to promoting the education of the public with respect to issues pertaining to personal injury and sexual abuse law in order to promote safety and increased awareness of risks that exist to the general public.
With these principles in mind, The Fitch Law Firm is honored to offer a one-time, non-renewable scholarship of $2,500.00 to one college student who wins The Fitch Law Firm 2017 Scholarship Essay Contest.
Green Law Firm Nursing Home & Elderly Care
Attorney Bill Green and his team at Green Law Firm are committed to improving the quality of care in nursing homes.
With over 26 years of experience serving the community and many years fighting against low standards of elderly care, Bill is dedicated to promoting passionate students who are focused on making care homes a ‘home’ for our senior population.
We are pleased to be offering a $1500 nursing scholarship to high-achieving students who are committed to elderly care and pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
Our hope is to further their professional development and continued competence, allowing them to improve the quality of life for seniors at nursing homes.
Applicants will be judged on the content of their application, the essay they provide and on their academic merits.
Eligibilty:
✓ Candidates must be working at a nursing home or in an industry directly related to elderly care
✓ Candidates pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN), including those who already hold a RN certification

Fields of Learning Scholarship
To encourage Ohio high school students to appreciate and write about their learning experiences related to high school football, and to reward as many of them as possible with financial aid for continuing education. All Ohio high school students (not limited to football players, band members, cheerleaders, etc.) are invited to send us essays describing personal learning experiences which involved high school football. We will select what we consider to be the best essays and award scholarship money for college, career technical education or other continuing education/developmental endeavors of the students' choice.
Marilyn Cross Scholarship
The Marilyn Cross Scholarship was instituted in December of 2002 to honor the memory of Marilyn Cross, past president and revered leader of the OEA.The $2,000 scholarship is presented each year to a career teacher for graduate work in a program directly linked to his/her current area of licensure, must be in need of financial assistance, and must demonstrate a reasonable prediction of success in graduate work.
Jean Kershaw Scholarship
The Jean Kershaw Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Jean Kershaw, a long-time OEA employee who died in the fall of 1985, after having served as secretary to 11 OEA presidents.The $2,000 scholarship is presented each year to1. a sophomore, junior, or fourth-year student in a five-year program in an approved teacher education program at an accredited Ohio college or university, OR2. must be a senior in an approved teacher education program at an Ohio college or university who has been formally accepted for graduate study in a master's degree of education program at an accredited Ohio college or university.All applicants must be current members of the Ohio Student Education Association and the NEA-Student Program. Applicants need to demonstrate success in their teacher education program, and provide evidence of financial need. Current members of the OEA Board of Directors are not eligible for this scholarship.
University Journalism Scholarships
The Ohio Newspapers Foundation will award three scholarships of $1,500 each to students who are enrolled in an Ohio college or university and majoring in journalism or an equivalent degree program. Applicants are not limited to, but preference will be given to students demonstrating a career commitment to newspaper journalism.Eligibility * Applicant must be enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior at an Ohio college or university. * A minimum grade point average of 2.5 (C+) is required. The student’s college transcript must accompany the application. * Application form must be typed or printed legibly by the applicant. (The application form on the reverse side may be photocopied). * Student must demonstrate the ability to write clearly in an autobiography of 750 to 1,000 words describing academic and career interests, awards, extracurricular activities and any journalism- related activities. Emphasis should be given to newspaper or print journalism. * Application must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from college or university faculty members familiar with the student’s work and career interests. * Student should provide writing samples or articles that have been published.
Ohio Newspaper Women’s Scholarship
The Ohio Newspapers Foundation will award a $1,500 scholarship to a male or female student who is enrolled as a junior or senior in an Ohio college or university and majoring in journalism or an equivalent degree program.Eligibility * Applicant may be male or female and must be enrolled as a junior or senior at an Ohio college or university for the academic year.Include the Following With Your Application: * A recommendation from one college professor (non-journalism) and one college professor in the journalism or communications department. * A transcript of college grades * Three or four newspaper clippings demonstrating applicant’s writing skills. * Applicant’s answers to the following questions (limit of two typed, double-spaced pages per question):1. Who or what was your inspiration to get involved in the field of journalism and why did you select print journalism as your area of interest?2. Why do you need a scholarship? What do you think qualifies you for a scholarship?3. What do you hope to accomplish during your career as a professional journalist?
Miami Univ/The Ken Shinn/SAE Engineering Schp
Applicants must be high school seniors intending to pursue studies in Manufacturing Engineering. Scholarships will be granted on the basis of SAT and/or ACT scores, high school grade point average and extracurricular activities.
Cedarville University/SAE Engineering Scholarship
Student Eligibility: Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement to incoming freshmen pursuing a degree in engineering. Criteria include ACT/SAT scores and high school GPA. Financial need is considered.
Terms: Two $1,000 freshman scholarships will be offered.

Homer T. Borton, P.E. Scholarship
This program is open to high school seniors who are enrolled in an ABET-appproved engineering program at an engineering college in Ohio (or at Notre Dame University). They must have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average, have scored at least 600 on their Math and 500 on the Verbal SAT's or 29 on the Math and 25 on based on high scholastic achievement and invidual contributions to society. Financial need is not considered in the selection process.
