Domingo Lopez Scholarship The Lopez Scholarship was created after the 2004 Annual Banquet at the request of the honoree, Nancy Lopez, who was his daughter. Mr. Lopez taught her the game of golf when she was eight years old in her hometown of Roswell, NM as part of atherapy program for his wife, Marina, who was suffering from a lung disorder. Domingo Lopez was Nancy’s coach and teacher through her junior career. Sadly, Marina Lopez died just before Nancy won as a rookie on the LPGA Tour, but Domingo Lopez was with her for several of her early victories, which she dedicated to her family. He died in 2002 at the age of 87.To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. The awards are "need-based" and assist with tuition at accredited undergraduate institutions.
