Massachusetts Scholarships

In memory of Edna Stocker, a graduate of Swampscott High School, the Fund awards scholarships to Swampscott High School seniors with demonstrated financial need to help offset the costs of higher education. To Apply: Contact the Swampscott High School Guidance Office.

Please review the General Eligibility Criteria below to be sure you are eligible to apply:  Be a current full-time undergraduate (not an incoming Freshman) or graduate student enrolled in a program at an accredited college, university or vocational school, or accredited specialized study program. Part-time students are not eligible.  Must have financial need.  Demonstrate a history of academic achievement. Minimum cumulative 2.7 GPA Provides tuition support for students attending the architecture school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

MusicAuthority recognizes the positive impact that music can have on a student’s learning experience. Studies have shown how music can enhance learning- from improving memory performance to relieving anxiety, music can be a great component to aid a student’s college experience. We are proud to offer our $1,000 scholarship to one current or prospective student. We will be offering this scholarship on a continual basis and we are excited to promote a passion for music and higher education.

ELIGIBILITY: Pursuing a four-year degree in animal science or marketing at Cornell University, Penn State University or Virginia Tech. Resident of Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont or Virginia required.AWARD: Two scholarships at $1,000 each, non-renewable.

Eligible students will: Write an essay of no fewer than 600 words about their career aspirations and how their current course load will help them achieve success in their careers. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now? Thinking outside the box is encouraged! Email their essay as a .doc or .pdf attachment to: [email protected] YouTube submissions are optional, although not required. Video should be no longer than 5 minutes. (Essays submitted via YouTube must also be submitted in writing.)

The Harvard University Trade Union Program Scholarship provides IAFF members the opportunity to explore key issues of the labor movement. Scholarships are awarded annually two IAFF members to attend this program. Award is $1,000 plus tuition.

The Mathematics and Science Teachers Scholarship Program was established as a pilot initiative by the Massachusetts Legislature for the purpose of providing financial assistance for coursework leading to the initial educator license in a Mathematics or Science field for teachers who are currently employed in Massachusetts public schools and teaching Mathematics or Science courses under either a preliminary license, waiver, or are teaching outside of their licensed field. This scholarship serves to address the Mathematics and Science teacher shortage and is also designed to help reduce financial barriers that teachers often face when pursuing degree programs or required courses of study. Who Is Eligible? To be eligible for the Mathematics and Science Teachers Scholarship Program, an applicant must: be employed, full or part-time, as an educator in a Massachusetts public school or school that provides publicly-funded special education and be currently teaching Mathematics or Science (including Technology or Engineering) under a preliminary license, waiver, or outside their licensed area; and meet the following criteria: be a permanent legal resident of Massachusetts be a United States citizen or eligible non-citizen be enrolled in up to three higher education courses per academic semester in fulfillment of degree or program requirements in a state-approved educator preparation program for the initial license in the Mathematics or Science field and level of interest sign an agreement to continue teaching Mathematics or Science (including Technology/Engineering) full time in a Massachusetts public school for a term of service after completion of courses or program (no longer teaching out-of-field) or repay funds as defined by the scholarship terms and conditions be eligible under Title IV Regulations and not in default of a state or federal education loan or grant annually file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Priority consideration will be given to applicants meeting the above criteria who are teaching full or part time in a high-need district. A high-need district is a district that has been identified for corrective action in which there are one or more schools identified for corrective action or restructuring or districts in which the percentage of low-income students is 40 percent or greater. Preference will be given to applicants who are identified by superintendents or principals as highly talented educators, who have demonstrated a commitment to education and to instructional excellence. Eligible Institutions For the purpose of this scholarship program, an eligible institution is defined as a public or private college or university in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that has an approved educator preparation program for the initial license in the Mathematics or Science field and level of interest. Award Amounts The value of the scholarship for this program will vary, depending on the institution, and may be awarded to cover the cost of tuition, fees, and related expenses for up to three courses per academic semester, based on availability of funds. Teachers in high-need districts are eligible to receive 100% of these costs and teachers employed in non-high-need districts are eligible to receive partial funding, 75% of these costs.

Activia Training are pleased to offer a $1,500 annual scholarship for college, university, high school or trade school students in the US. There is no specific course of study required, and you can use the money in whatever way that you feel benefits your studies the most. There will be two scholarship awards of $750 each year, awarded in November and May as follows: - The video winner will receive $500 - The essay format winner will receive $250 Furthermore, all entries adjudged to be of a suitable standard will be eligible for an “expenses award” as follows: - YouTube videos: $20 - Blog articles: $15 To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be at least 16 years of age and attending, or have secured a place, at a college, university, high school or trade school in the US. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who attends a US university/college located in the BASAA area (Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Connecticut). Applicants must meet general FEA scholarship eligibility requirements & preferences. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their application forms. Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. Must be applying for a study abroad program eligible for credit at the student’s educational institution Must plan to study abroad for a minimum of 4 weeks in country Is committed to supporting education abroad in his/her campus community through work with the FEA and his/her campus education abroad staff upon return Preferences: Applying to a study abroad program known for its academic rigor and immersion elements Applying to a study abroad program that includes studying the language of the host country (if not English) Applying to a study abroad program with a sustainable service-learning or volunteering component Applying to a study abroad program in a non-traditional destination Demonstrates financial need FEA strongly encourages students to apply who represent a group that is traditionally underrepresented in education abroad Groups typically underrepresented in study abroad include, but are not limited to: Minorities First-generation college students STEM majors Community college students Students with disabilities
