Glapion, Jr., Roy E. /UNCF Endowed Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Detail: The Glapion Memorial Scholarship has been created to honor the memory of Mr. Roy Glapion, Jr. The goal of the program is to provide scholarship awards to deserving New Orleans area students in search of a college education. Prospective students applying for this competitive scholarship must be nominated by a faculty member at their respective institutions for consideration. Scholarship awards will go to the institutions on behalf of the individual students. If you were a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana prior to the storm but are now a displaced resident, you are eligible for this scholarship. Donor/Sponsor Name: Family and Friends of Roy E. The Anthony S. DAngelo Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

Scholarship awards to undergraduate students who are residents of LA and enrolled in an accredited state college of pharmacy. Application form required. Please contact the foundation through letter for more information.

Taylor Opportunity Program for Students

TOPS (Taylor Opportunity Program for Students) is a program of state scholarships for Louisiana residents who attend either one of the Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities, schools that are a part of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System or institutions that are a part of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. The four different award components of the TOPS Program are: TOPS Opportunity Award TOPS Performance Award Standard Eligibility Requirements - Minimum High School GPA of 2.50 (GPA computed on core courses only) - 17.5 Core Units - Minimum ACT Score (or SAT Equivalent) of the prior year state average; Currently 20 - Must enroll full time as a first time freshman, by the first semester following the first anniversary of high school graduation - Be a US citizen or permanent resident - Meet TOPS Louisiana residency requirements *BESE-Approved Home Study Eligibility – ACT/SAT Score of 2 points above standard – Currently 22 *Louisiana Residents graduating from an eligible out-of-state/country high school – ACT/SAT Score of 3 points above standard – Currently 23 TOPS Honors Award TOPS Tech Award

Markley Scholarship

The former NACA South Central region established the Markley Scholarship in 1983. The scholarship is named for Larry Markley, the acknowledged founder of the former NACA South Central Region. The scholarship is to be used for educational purposes, such as tuition, fees and books. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize and honor involved students who have made significant contributions to the NACA Central Region and are located in the former NACA South Central Region. Up to two scholarships may be awarded annually. DEADLINE: Materials must be submitted online by Sept. 1. CRITERIA: A committee will select individuals who meet the following criteria: * Are strongly involved in and contribute to NACA Central * Demonstrate continued potential in the field of student activities * Are involved in and contribute to the field of student activities and/or student activities employment * Are involved in and contribute to other organizations * Are classified as a junior, senior or graduate student at a four-year school in the former NACA South Central Region (AR, LA, NM, OK and TX), or are classified as a sophomore at a two-year school in the former NACA South Central Region * Have a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative grade point average * You must be a U.S. Citizen * High school students are not eligible.

Green Law Firm Nursing Home & Elderly Care

Attorney Bill Green and his team at Green Law Firm are committed to improving the quality of care in nursing homes. With over 26 years of experience serving the community and many years fighting against low standards of elderly care, Bill is dedicated to promoting passionate students who are focused on making care homes a ‘home’ for our senior population. We are pleased to be offering a $1500 nursing scholarship to high-achieving students who are committed to elderly care and pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Our hope is to further their professional development and continued competence, allowing them to improve the quality of life for seniors at nursing homes. Applicants will be judged on the content of their application, the essay they provide and on their academic merits. ACS/PPG Scholars Plus Program

To qualify, a candidate must be: - African-American, Hispanic/Latino, or America Indian; - a U.S. citizen or permanent residents of the U.S.; - a full-time student at an accredited college, university, or community college; - high academic achievers in chemistry or chemical science; - able to demonstrate evidence of financial need according to the FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Applicants must be a high school senior from one of the following locations entering a four-year undergraduate program intending to major in chemistry or chemical engineering: Lake Charles, Louisiana; Natrium or New Martinsville, West Virginia; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Cleveland, Ohio; Shelby and Lexington, North Carolina; Oak Creek, Wisconsin; and Houston, Texas.

Future Mechanic Grant

Trade School Future is an organization dedicated to helping future mechanics reach their full potential. Our country needs skilled automotive workers and we want to help. Each semester, we’ll be awarding grants of various amounts to students who plan on attending a trade or vocational school with the aim of becoming a mechanic. This scholarship is open to any prospective student in the United States who plans to enroll in a trade or vocational school, 2 or 4 year university, accredited community college or other automotive higher education institution within the next 12 months. The applicant must complete a short essay (500 words or less) detailing why they are pursuing an automotive degree. The applicant must provide a phone number and email address for correspondence about the grant award selection process. The Future Mechanic Grant for the Fall/Winter Semester is a one-time financial gift of $1,000. The grant will be awarded to the applicant who best answers the application criteria, including the short essay. The award funds may be applied to any expenses associated with pursuing an automotive degree or certification. This is a one-time financial gift and does not need to be paid back to Trade School Future.

Drone Technology College Scholarship

The Drone Technology College Scholarship will be awarded to current U.S. college or university undergraduates who demonstrate an interest in pushing the drone industry forward, as demonstrated in an essay of 750-1,000 words. Successful applicants will write thorough, thoughtful essays that dive deeply into the topic, and will have a strong letter of support. Two awards of $1,000 each will be given.
