Psi Iota Xi Education Award

Requirements / Selection Criteria Enrollment: Applicants must have completed two years of schooling through a North American Accredited College or University prior to applying to be eligible. Special Characteristics: Applicants must be at least juniors in college and have declared a major area of study in one of the following areas: arts, music, literature, or speech and hearing. Special Preference: Students must be a resident of Shelby County to apply. Applicants will not be solely judged on financial need or grade point average. Special Characteristics: Any Shelby Countian who is attending any accredited school of the medical arts including, but not limited to, medical schools, nursing, schools, medical technician schools and other schools training persons in the medical and related professions. Special Preference: Recipients must be firmly established in their course of study--this scholarship is not for freshmen. Shelby County residents only. Financial Need Considered: Yes Written Essay: Yes Essay Guidelines: Essay is in the form of a letter to the selection committee. Suggested content for the letter would include some general information about background, course of study, and future plans. References: None required. Given to a graduating senior from Shelby County who has been an active member of Girls, Inc., has a minimum of C average, has demonstrated qualities of good citizenship in her personal life, and is seeking a college degree at a four-year accredited institution.
