Mary Moy Quan Ing Memorial Scholarship
$2,000 to a graduating high school senior who is enrolling in college and pursuing a journalism career.
Helen Tronvold Norwegian Folk High School Scholarship

AAJA/Cox Foundation Scholarship
Awards of up to $2,500 to students pursuing careers in print, broadcast or photo journalism. Each year, AAJA offers scholarships to outstanding high school seniors and undergraduate and graduate students. Students are selected based on the following criteria: Commitment to the field of journalism. Sensitivity to Asian American and Pacific Islander issues as demonstrated by community involvement. Sons of Italy Foundation - HENRY SALVATORI SCHOLARSHIP
Established by the late philanthropist and businessman for whom it is named, the Henry Salvatori Scholarship is a $5,000 grant awarded to a college-bound high school senior who demonstrates exceptional leadership, distinguished scholarship and a deep understanding and respect for the principles for which our nation was founded - liberty, freedom, and equality. Applicants for the Henry Salvatori Scholarship are automatically eligible for a general SIF scholarship, but need complete only the requirements for the Henry Salvatori Scholarship. Eligibility: U.S. citizens of Italian descent (at least one Italian or Italian American grandparent) in their senior year of high school and planning to attend a four-year, accredited academic institution. Requirements: Requirements are the same as requirements for general scholarships, with three exceptions: Substitute the following item for item #5 in the list of requirements for general scholarships: Letters of Recommendation: Submit only two letters of recommendation from public figures whose careers have demonstrated a commitment to the principles the scholarship embodies. Substitute the following item for item #6 in the list of requirements for general scholarships: Essay: Submit a typewritten essay of 750-1,000 words on the following topic: The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights are considered to be living documents by many historical and legal scholars. Discuss the relevance of these documents to the principles of liberty, freedom, and equality in the United States today. Complete the following item in addition to all the requirements for the general scholarships: Cover letter: Submit a typewritten cover letter of 150-250 words outlining your academic and professional goals. Sons of Italy Foundation - General Scholarships
An undergraduate or graduate program at a four-year, accredited academic institution are eligible. Previous SIF scholarship recipients are not eligible. Requirements: 1. Official Application Form: Complete and submit the application form or a photocopy. Send with self-addressed, stamped standard business-sized (#10) envelope for receipt of application. 2. Official Transcripts: Submit one official transcript from each academic institution attended through December 2005 (see below). All transcripts must be stamped by the institution and included in a separate, sealed envelope. You may submit transcripts with entire application package, however, you are strongly encouraged to have your school send them separately. High school students: transcripts should include class rank and GPA Undergraduates: submit high school and undergraduate transcripts Graduates: submit undergraduate and graduate transcripts (indicate if entering as 1st year graduate student) 3. Test Scores: Submit copies of official results from all standardized tests (ACT, SAT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT) taken during the past five years. Scores reported on official transcripts will usually fulfill this requirement.

With over 26 years of experience serving the community and many years fighting against low standards of elderly care, Bill is dedicated to promoting passionate students who are focused on making care homes a ‘home’ for our senior population.
We are pleased to be offering a $1500 nursing scholarship to high-achieving students who are committed to elderly care and pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
Our hope is to further their professional development and continued competence, allowing them to improve the quality of life for seniors at nursing homes.
Applicants will be judged on the content of their application, the essay they provide and on their academic merits.
Eligibilty:
✓ Candidates must be working at a nursing home or in an industry directly related to elderly care
✓ Candidates pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN), including those who already hold a RN certification

East Cliff Foundation Scholarship
Recipients of an EastCliff Foundation Scholarship are selected using a variety of criteria including scholastic achievement and extra curricular activities.The minimum requirements for eligibility are a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated financial need. Each high school’s Scholarship Committee or Scholarship Coordinator selects qualified applicants for an EastCliff Foundation Scholarship and forwards them to the Foundation for review.In addition to the information provided by the student in their local scholarship application, a personal statement or essay is helpful in evaluating the student prior to being interviewed. The foundation also requires a copy of the parent’s most recent IRS Form 1040 filing, and the student’s high school transcript.A copy of the student's Federal Application for Student Aid (F.A.F.S.A.) is also helpful.
Bill King College Scholarship
The Oakland Athletics Community Fund will award one scholarship to an undergraduate student that is majoring in journalism or broadcasting. This $3,000 scholarship is intended for qualified tuition or required expenses such as fees, books, supplies and equipment for courses of instruction at a qualified educational institution. The recipient will possibly receive the opportunity to intern with the A's Broadcasting Department.This scholarship has been established in memory of Bill King, long-time legendary Bay Area Sports Announcer. The purpose of this scholarship is to support a student who plans to pursue a career in journalism or broadcasting.Student applicants must meet the following criteria: * Be a full-time student in your sophomore, junior, or senior year at a college or university in the San Francisco Bay Area. * Prove financial need, as evidenced by expenses and offset by other scholarships, loans, grants and other sources of supplemental aid. * Possess a minimum grade point average of 3.0. * Show a demonstrated strong interest in pursuing a career in broadcasting or journalism.
Italian Catholic Federation First Year Scholarship
Participant must be Catholic and of Italian descent (or whose non-Italian parents or grandparents are members of the Federation), who maintains a GPA of at least 3.2. They must also enroll in an accredited college, junior college, or university after their graduation from high school. Students apply for the First Year Scholarship as a high school senior. If they win the $400, it is to be applied toward their first year of college. This is why winning students must enroll in an accredited college in order to receive the scholarship. Students must also live in the states of California, Nevada or Illinois where branches of the Italian Catholic Federation are established.
Hal Connolly Scholar-Athlete Awards
All current high school seniors, enrolled in an accredited California public or private high school, age 19 or under with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better, who have competed during high school in varsity or equivalent-level competitive athletics and who have a disability, are eligible. The Americans with Disabilities Act defines an individual with a disability as a person who has a physical ormental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, has a record of such an impairment, or is regarded as having such an impairment. Applicants must be California residents who plan to attend accredited colleges or universities. Students must submit a complete packet consisting of the application, plus six other items (listed on the application) for consideration. It is not necessary for students to plan on formally participating in a college athletic activity to qualify.
ACS/Bayer Scholars Program
To qualify, a candidate must be: - African-American, Hispanic/Latino, or America Indian; - a U.S. citizen or permanent residents of the U.S.; - a full-time student at an accredited college, university, or community college; - high academic achievers in chemistry or chemical science; - able to demonstrate evidence of financial need according to the FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Applicants must be a high school senior, college freshman or sophomore enrolled in or planning to enroll in a four-year undergraduate program at a college or university in or near one of the following locations: Addyston, Ohio; Baytown, Texas; Orange, Texas; Berkeley, California; Goose Creek, South Carolina; Fitchburg, Massachusetts; Wilmington, Massachusetts; Kansas City, Missouri; Middletown, Virginia; Morristown, New Jersey; Ridgefield Park, New Jersey; Myerstown, Pennsylvania; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, New Martinsville, West Virginia; Shawnee, Kansas; Tarrytown, New York; or West Haven, Connecticut.
TELACU Scholarship
Students applying for the TELACU scholarship must meet very specific criteria. First, and foremost, applicants for all scholarships must be permanent residents of East Los Angeles, the city of Los Angeles, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Huntington Park, Montebello, Monterey Park or South Gate (no exceptions). In addition, the TELACU scholarship is only available to students who will be attending one of the following 18 participating colleges and universities on a full-time basis: Chapman University, East Los Angeles College, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal Poly Pomona, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, Azusa Pacific University, Loyola Marymount University, Mount St. Mary's College, Occidental College, Pepperdine University, University of La Verne, University of Southern California, Whittier College. The TELACU Education Foundatoin targets low-income, first generation college students who are U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Graduating high school seniors and currently enrolled college students may apply.
