J. L. Bedsole Scholars Program

The mission of The J.L. Bedsole Scholars Program is to enable high school graduates from Southwest Alabama with leadership ability, academic commitment and financial need to attend the Alabama College of their choice in pursuit of a Baccalaureate degree. Their college experience will be enhanced by providing opportunities for leadership development, career guidance, interaction with business and community leaders and networking opportunities. Community service involvement on the part of each Bedsole Scholar will enable them to become a community servant leader. Application Time-Line The Online Scholarship Application for the baccalaureate degree program can be found here beginning in mid-September through the end of November. Please check back beginning in mid-September to apply. Applicant Eligibility Graduating from an accredited public or private secondary school in the spring semester of the senior year, with plans to pursue a Baccalaureate degree at a qualifying 4-year institution within the State of Alabama that fall. Graduating from a high school in: Mobile County Baldwin County Clarke County Monroe County Washington County Sweet Water High School in Marengo County Applicant, along with his parent or legal guardian, must physically reside in one of the aforementioned counties. Applicant must apply for admission and financial aid (FAFSA) as a full-time student in an accredited college/university in the state of Alabama Applicant must achieve a minimum composite ACT score of 21 prior to the November 29 (Phase One) deadline Applicant must possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50 at the end of the junior year Applicant must demonstrate an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $9,000 or less
