Ohio Scholarships

One scholarship for a resident enrolled in a graduate educational program in Ohio who is a registered occupational therapist or a certified occupational therapy assistant who is doing graduate study in a field related to occupational therapy in an Ohio University. Scholarship amount TBD.

What is it? The Ohio Board of Regents administers the Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG) program, which provides grant money to Ohio residents who demonstrate the highest levels of financial need (as determined by the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that should be completed) who are enrolled at Ohio public university main campuses (not regional campuses or community colleges), Ohio private, non-profit colleges or universities, and Ohio private, for-profit institutions. Who is Eligible? Ohio residents in a degree or nurse diploma program at an eligible Ohio or Pennsylvania institution with an EFC (Expected Family Contribution) of 2190 or less and a maximum household income of $75,000. How do I apply? Students apply for OCOG benefits by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Is there a deadline? The application deadline is October 1 of each year.

The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio awards one scholarship of $1,500 and one scholarship of $1,000 annually for students preparing to enter his or her freshman year of college. The applicant must be a veteran or a direct descendant of an honorably discharged veteran.

What is it? The Ohio War Orphans Scholarship Program awards tuition assistance to the children of deceased or severely disabled Ohio veterans who served in the armed forces during a period of declared war or conflict. Who is eligible? To receive War Orphans Scholarship benefits, a student must be enrolled for full-time undergraduate study and pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree at an eligible Ohio college or university. Ohio residency is required. Applicants must be under the age of 25. How much aid is available? Scholarship benefits cover a portion of instructional and general fee charges at two and four-year public institutions and a portion of these charges at eligible private colleges and universities. How do I apply? Application is made to the Ohio Board of Regents/State Grants and Scholarships Department. Where do I get an application? Check website for a copy of the application. Applications are also available from the Ohio Board of Regents/State Grants and Scholarships Department, high school guidance offices, veterans service offices, and college Financial Aid Offices. Is there a deadline? The application deadline is July 1 of each year.

What is it? This program provides tuition assistance to the children and spouses of peace officers, fire fighters and certain other safety officers who are killed in the line-of-duty, anywhere in the United States. It also provides assistance to the children and spouses of a member of the armed services of the US, who has been killed in the line of duty during Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom or a combat zone designated by the President of the United States. The child is only eligible for this program if he/she is not eligible for the Ohio War Orphans Scholarship. Who is Eligible? Recipients must be Ohio residents. Can I enroll part-time? Recipients may enroll for full-time or part-time study at any participating Ohio post-secondary institution. How long are the benefits good for? Eligibility is for ten semesters or 15 quarters (up to five years or until a bachelor's degree is obtained). This includes terms that you use benefits and are not enrolled full-time.

Eligibility Criteria - for ALL Scholarships (exceptions noted) *3.0 minimum grade point average (A=4) *Minimum SAT (Math=600, Reading or Composition=500) or ACT (Math=29, English=25) *Citizen of the U.S. & permanent resident of Ohio $2,000/year Renewable for one year. One chosen each year. Lloyd established this scholarship to help future engineers to be the crowning tribute of a lifetime of service. It is hoped that recipients of this grant will feel inspired and challenged to initiate the selfless giving to the engineering profession and humankind exemplified by Lloyd A. Chacey, P.E. The scholarship is to be applied to the student's tuition, fees and other educational expenses. Please note: Criteria in addition to "General Criteria" include the following: * Be a son, daughter, brother, sister, niece, nephew, spouse or grandchild of a current member of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers or so related to a deceased member who was in good standing at the time of his or her death. Student members are not considered OSPE members for purposes of awarding this scholarship. * Be enrolled full-time at an Ohio college or university in a curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or its equivalent. * Will achieve junior status at the end of the academic year in which the application is submitted. Junior status is defined as meaning the applicant can complete requirements for the degree in two more academic years progressing at a normal rate. Co-op students who meet these criteria are eligible. Applicants will be evaluated on "General Criteria" as well as activities/leadership/work experiences, membership and activity in professional and technical societies, honors won, and an evaluation by the engineering college dean or department chairman. Financial need will be considered as a deciding factor in case of a tie.

Student Eligibility: Incoming (first year or transfer) students. Undergraduate scholarship winners will be selected on the basis of demonstrated potential to contribute to the success of Ohio State's motorsports teams. Prior participation in successful team efforts, technical aptitude, leadership potential, and a solid record are all important elements in the selection process. Terms: Up to three $500 scholarships will be awarded.

Student Eligibility: Applicants must be incoming freshmen to the College of Engineering who are citizens of the United States. Terms: One $1,000 scholarship is being offered. Student Eligibility: This merit scholarship is for a freshman in any program in the College and will be awarded on basis of scholarship and achievement. Applicant may also be considered for other university scholarships based on merit and achievement. Terms: One $1,000 freshman nonrenewable scholarship will be offered.
